Kelsey Bandstra

Softball Trainer

Kelsey first served as an Assistant Coach at Muskegon Community College for 4 years. She is now entering her 4th year as the Pitching coach @ Davenport University. She has earned her bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Davenport.

All State pitcher in high school at Wyoming Rogers. Played 2 years in college at Muskegon Community College. Her team won a National Championship at MCC in May of 2010, 3 months later played for District 9 Big League where her team won the World Series Championship beating the Philippines 14-4 and she hit a homerun on ESPN 2.

When Kelsey isn’t at the softball field she enjoys spending time with her family, going fishing, and hanging out with friends.

Dave Bandstra

Softball Trainer

Dave Bandstra also known as Big Dave has been coaching and training pitchers the last 25 years. He has won many State Championships coaching his daughters Krysten and Kelsey at Pinery Park Little League. He has made numerous trips to the Little League World Series. He coached all 3 of his kids in basketball, bowling, and softball and they all were very successful.

The last 6 years he has enjoyed working with students of all ages in pitching and getting them to be the best they can be. He is very passionate about softball and if you can’t find him at the diamond watching his girls that he trains, he is spending time with his family. He enjoys fishing with his kids and hanging out with family as much as he can.

Meet McKenze!

High School

2009-2012
I was a Varsity player all 4 years of high school. 4 years in a row I was all conference, all district, all area, 2 years in a row all state first team. I am in the MSHAA record book for most strikeouts in a career, most strike outs in a season for pitching. I had an ERA of .74 throughout high school and had a batting average of .400+ I ended up receiving a full ride scholarship to Grand Valley State University.

Travel Softball

I played for Michigan Elite from the time I was 12-18 years old. I trained with Crystal Laska for pitching, and Michelle Brander for hitting. Laska and Brander were very inspiring trainers and had advanced knowledge in the game that I share with the girls today.

College

2012-2016
I was a utility player for GVSU my Junior and Senior year I received All GlIAC first team awards, All Mid-West Region 3rd base. I hold 2 records for hitting at GVSU and tied the Homerun record for most in a season. My best game I went 5 for 5 with two homeruns, a triple, double, and single in one game. My batting average was .350+ at the division II level and I was been a part of 2 World Series appearances.

Rob Dunham

Coach & Trainer

Coach Rob Dunham is starting his second year at Aquinas College. Since moving to Michigan from Southern California he has been a private instructor & college pitching coach.

He led the pitching staff at Lansing Community College from 2007-2009. During this time, LCC Softball took 5th, 4th and 3rd place finishes respectively at the NJCAA National Tournament. He also helped Muskegon Community College in 2010 win a National Championship with one of his private pitching students (AQ Alum – Ashley White) garnering the MVP at the National Tournament.

In 2011 Rob helped Saginaw Valley State University and Davenport University in a consulting manner and worked out with both pitching staffs occasionally that year. SVSU ended up as the runner up in the NCAA Division II National Championship and Davenport made an appearance at the NAIA National Tournament during that year. Coach Rob led the Davenport University pitching staff since July of 2013-June of 2017. DU went to the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament every year while he was there, while placing 5th at the final site of the National Tournament in 2017.

Besides working with Aquinas College, he is also a sales rep for Michigan Solar Solutions and owner of West Coast Fundamentals Private Instruction. Coach Rob has had a private student reach the MHSAA Semi-Final/Final 9 of the last 11 years.

Coach Rob played baseball at Mt. San Antonio JC in Walnut, Ca & transferred to So. Oregon State University.

Matt Houseman

Coach & Trainer

Matt Houseman served as a head coach at Muskegon Community College for 8 years. He had taken a program that struggled in the past and transformed it into a league power. When Coach Houseman took over at MCC his goal was to compete for a National Title within five years and he surpassed that goal by winning a National Championship in 2010, just his fourth year in charge.

The Jayhawks coaches were named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Coaching Staff of the Year that year. The Muskegon Catholic Central alumnus guided the Jayhawks to two regional titles, two MCCAA state titles, two Western Conference titles and two trips to the national tournament. The Jayhawks went back to the national tourney in 2012 and took sixth place.

Matt Houseman is a graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central. He played baseball at Muskegon Community College and at Olivet College. He has coached baseball at Muskegon Catholic Central, and Muskegon Orchard View. Matt also helped his wife Heidi with the Muskegon High School softball team prior to being hired again at MCC.

Matt is now entering his third season Coaching softball at North Muskegon High School. He is co-owner of Michigan Blue Chip Softball Camps. He coaches two travel teams for Top Prospects. He enjoys coaching his kids, and spending time with his family.

I have been coaching travel ball for the last 7 years, with 5 of them being with the Sabercat organization. I have also been the Assistant Coach for Oakridge Varsity Softball team for the past 8 years.

I am currently the head coach of 2 teams for the Sabercat organization, a 14U and 16U team. With these two teams, over the past 5 years I have helped coach them to 23 Championships and 13 Runner Up finishes.

During my 8 years at Oakridge we have won 4 Conference Championships, 4 District Championships and a Regional Championship.
